AAA welcomes delegates to Brisbane for big week of events
People from almost 60 airports across Australia will start to converge on Brisbane as the Australian Airports Association (AAA) kicks off a series of industry events today.
The week begins when more than 100 people take part in the AAA’s inaugural Pavement Technology Workshop this morning, which will be followed by the Airfield Lighting Workshop this afternoon.
The events will feature case studies and future trends for the industry and precede the official launch of the two-day OPS SWAP Forum 2018 tomorrow, to be attended by more than 160 delegates.
AAA Chief Executive Officer Caroline Wilkie said the events would provide technical and operational airport staff with an opportunity to share challenges and achievements and gain an insight into airports of the future.
“More than 30 speakers will be discussing a wide range of technical issues, new technologies and airport challenges over the course of the next three days,” Ms Wilkie said.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for our members to network and collaborate as they forge new approaches and improve efficiency and performance at their airports.
“The content ensures there is something for everyone, from those operating small regional airports on behalf of local councils through to technical and operational staff from our major airports.”
Ms Wilkie said the new Pavement Technology Workshop had been created in response to member demand and would feature the latest research from the AAA-supported Airport Pavement Research Program.
“The AAA has worked hard to ensure our events program meets the evolving needs of the industry and empowers people to drive innovation at their own airports,” Ms Wilkie said.
“The Pavement Technology Workshop will discuss new research for the first time as part of the AAA’s commitment to advancing the industry.”
The Pavement Technology Workshop and Airfield Lighting Workshop take place at the Brisbane Airport Convention Centre today, while the OPS SWAP Forum 2018 is to be held over the following two days.
