Manager – Armidale Airport

Located in the beautiful New England region of NSW, Armidale Airport is owned and operated by Armidale Regional Council.  With approximately 100,000 passengers annually, the airport has daily return flights to Sydney and Brisbane and onward connections across Australia and to Asia, North America and Europe.

Position

The primary function of the Airport Manager, is to lead a small team, in delivering the day to day airport operations in a safe, compliant, secure and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities include :   

  • Collaborate with Key Airport Stakeholders:  Ensuring seamless and productive working relationships.
  • Project and Budget Management:  Lead capital works projects and control the operational and project management budgets, guaranteeing financial accountability and effective resource allocation.
  • Identify New Business:  Develop business plans for opportunities (including route development) that contribute to the airport’s ongoing commercial growth.   
  • Driving Overall Profitability: Negotiate positive commercial leases and contractual arrangements for the airport.
  • Team Leadership: You will lead a skilled airport team, providing support and resources for optimum team performance.
  • Document Management:  Assist in the preparation and management of key documents including the Asset Management Plan and the Airport Master Plan to identify capital expenditure needs.
  • Develop and Deliver:  Key plans including the airport security plan to provide passenger and baggage security.

The Person

A record of achievement, relating to airport/aviation leadership and commercial management, preferably in a regional airport, is essential.  Whilst your proven strategic skills will be utilised in long range airport planning.   Critical, is your ability to supervise operations and effectively manage projects.  You should have a thorough knowledge of legislation, regulation and policy, related to regional airports.  Your excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, will enable you to interact with key stakeholders and negotiate successful outcomes. Ideally, you will have, relevant tertiary qualifications in Aviation or Business Management.  Alternatively, the equivalent experience in a similar position.
