What you’ll contribute to:

An exciting opportunity has recently become available for an enthusiastic and innovative Cyber Security Analyst to join the QAL Technology team. Reporting directly to the General Manager for Technology, this role is responsible for maintaining, supporting, monitoring, and identifying and rectifying any security related issues with any of the technology at QAL. The successful candidate will be responsible to provide options around technology choices related to this domain. These capabilities are important in protecting the brand, privacy, and security of the digital assets of employees, contractors, consultants, and customers of QAL.

I joined QAL two and half years ago in a Cyber Graduate role. This was an amazing opportunity to kickstart my career in technology because QAL offered a first-level role which further provided me opportunities to learn, grow and contribute to the business as a Cyber Security Analyst. The technical knowledge and skills I can offer can assist our organisation to achieve and maintain good cyber hygiene practices.

How will you make an impact?

We are looking for a responsible and committed individual with demonstrated customer focused skills and experience. You will pride yourself on delivering excellent time management and problem-solving skills with an in-depth understanding of a variety of facets of technology.

The key accountabilities for the Cyber Security Analyst role include, but is not limited to:

  • Provides security application maintenance and support services, either directly to users if the systems or to service delivery functions
  • Ensure security patches and other technical changes are managed effectively
  • Governance of access and controls for all users
  • Provide guidance on the technology choices required to manage, report, and protect QAL from security issues
  • Defines documents and carries out small projects or sub-projects, alone or with a small team, actively participating in all phases
  • Ensures all cyber incidents are managed appropriately and with urgency
  • Provide cyber training and increase capability of our people and awareness around cyber

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in medium sized IT teams and/or SOC, 5 years’ experience in IT disciplines of Sys Admin, Network Security, Security Network Admin, or the like disciplines, completed a degree in Information Technology or related discipline. You will have proven experience with vulnerability scanning solutions, excellent IT skills, including knowledge of computer networks, operating systems, software, hardware, and security.
