The opportunity – Manager Aviation Precinct

As Manager you will lead, manage and provide the strategic direction for the Aviation Precinct. This role will be responsible for generating new business opportunities and driving operational excellence across the facilities and establishing professional relationships with key stakeholders within the industry. With the establishment of this new position you can make this role your own by identifying new income streams and expanding existing programs to grow the precinct to its full potential. You will manage a small, dedicated team ensuring the airport remains compliant with its legislative requirements and industry best practice.

Your new office is… Tamworth Regional Airport

The Tamworth Regional Airport is owned and operated by Tamworth Regional Council and a number of daily RPT returned services operate between Tamworth Sydney and Brisbane.

The airport is home to Qantaslink Dash 8 heavy maintenance facility, nationally recognised maintenance provider Sigma Aerospace, Aviskills, Civil Aviation Safety Authority Regional Office and International Flight Training Tamworth, a large pilot training facility which has been used previously by BAE Systems Australia, the Australian Defence Force and CAE Australia Flight Training. The airport also has an Airservices Australia operated control tower.

International Flight Training Tamworth is a military grade campus-like training facility, is owned by Tamworth Regional Council an is leased to flight training providers. The training campus features a vast range of excellent amenities including a fully-catered dining facility, student common rooms, a fully equipped gymnasium, tennis, basketball and volleyball courts, a soccer field, and a swimming pool. Single occupancy ensuite accommodation is available for up to 231 students.

To be successful in this role you will need

Tertiary qualifications in Aviation or Business management degree with airport management experience. Have demonstrated business acumen and experience operating in a commercial environment. You will have demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to coach, manage and lead the team to achieve results consistent with Council’s strategic direction. Strong skills and experience in contract negotiation, relevant contract and trade practices law, and the application of competitive tendering policies. This is not a role for a beginner, but an aviation specialist who is widely experienced in airport management and has outstanding technical, regulatory and compliance knowledge.

About you

We are looking for a Leader and a team player with demonstrated experience managing and operating an airport. You will have experience with engaging with, and managing external stakeholders with competing priorities. You will have a thorough understanding of best practice and the operational, technical and regulatory processes which include CASA’s MOS139 and the Aviation Transport Security Act.

Salary Range: $152,089.06 – $ 164,572.78 per annum and market premium for candidate with extensive experience and a leaseback vehicle.
