Who are we?
TasPorts is a state-owned company, responsible for eleven Tasmanian ports and the Devonport Airport. We are a vertically integrated organisation, providing a diverse range of port, marine and air operations and services around Tasmania. Our vision is to proudly connect people, products and solutions for the benefit of all Tasmanians.
Devonport Airport facilitates regular public transport services operated by QantasLink and Rex Airlines to Melbourne 7 days a week, along with air freight, air ambulance services, general aviation, charter and defense aircraft.
The general aviation maintenance facility at Devonport Airport is the largest independent aircraft maintenance facility in the state, servicing both fixed wing and rotary wing aircraft types. The airport has an active aero club, along with a large fleet of general aviation aircraft based at the airport.
The airport has developed an exciting airport master plan, which will assist in developing and growing the airport over the coming years.
The ideal candidate
You should possess appropriate airport management qualifications, with significant experience in airport or airline management. A track record of proven project and self-management skills is crucial, showcasing the ability to prioritise tasks and effectively handle multiple and complex issues within a dynamic aviation environment.
You will excel in high-level customer relationship and stakeholder management, demonstrating a keen ability to achieve commercial outcomes in a timely manner. Leadership and communication skills are paramount, with a focus on consultation, change management, building effective relationships, team management, negotiation, and conflict resolution. These skills will be instrumental in addressing issues promptly and adapting to changing organisational needs.
You will have suitable tertiary qualifications or proven experience in airport regulatory and statutory systems and compliance, airside operations, and emergency response in airports. The ability to obtain and retain an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC) is a prerequisite, coupled with a Tasmanian Firearm licence, ensuring a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of security within the airport. A current driver’s license is also required for this role, reflecting the need for mobility and flexibility in managing airport operations effectively.
