About the Role On a 4 year contract, the Program Manager Future Airspace has accountability for the delivery of a program of airspace design, runway operating modes and aircraft noise initiatives for Brisbane Airport in partnership with Airservices Australia (ASA). This role will lead a team of airspace design and aircraft noise experts to deliver BAC’s Airspace and Noise Management Strategy. The key deliverables associated with this role include the ASA New Runway Post Implementation Review, updated and modernised flight paths and new operating modes and improved aircraft noise communication and compliance frameworks. All deliverables are aimed at improving aircraft noise outcomes for the community while maintaining sustainable growth of the airport for the city and the region. Role and Responsibilities Leadership, setting the direction for the team through the development and implementation of initiatives that clearly align to the Group business plan Build partnerships with internal stakeholders as well as specialist external consultants. Undertake and deliver the BAC Airspace Strategy;
  • Define process and governance and manage project and steering groups for delivery of all airspace and noise management initiatives.
  • Work with ASA to ensure the successful delivery of ASA’s Post Implementation Review
  • Define and deliver Short Term Airspace optimisations initiatives with airlines and ASA
  • Conceive, plan, and deliver the Brisbane Airport Long Term Operating Plan
  • Set out a process and undertake the planning of future Modern Airspace Design for the airport
  • Research, plan and deliver a new Reporting and Compliance System with Airservices
  • Implementation, with ASA of a world class transparent noise information
Experience and Qualifications
  • Tertiary qualifications or equivalent in a relevant discipline, e.g. Air Traffic Control, Commercial Pilot, Civil or Aeronautical Engineering.
  • A minimum of 15 years’ experience in aviation related operations, planning or business.
  • Experience in planning and implementing flight plan and other airspace improvements at large international airports
  • Experience in aircraft noise management (noise information and compliance frameworks) at large international airports
  • Tertiary qualifications relevant disciplines to airport planning and airspace design Insert relevant technical knowledge – Standards
Knowledge and Technical Proficiency
  • Detailed understanding of Air Traffic Control and flight path design principles.
  • Knowledge of aviation regulations and guidelines, including CASR for Aerodromes and Air Traffic Services, Airservices Act, Airports Act, EPBC Act, NASAG, NASF, ICAO SARPS, PANSOPS and PANSATM, and their relevance to Brisbane Airport.
  • Detailed understanding of aircraft noise management issues and airport, air traffic control and aircraft systems.
  • Ability to articulate complex problems, strategic responses and outcomes in simple language
  • Technical knowledge of aviation safety, efficiency, and environmental requirements.
  • Strong strategic leadership experience with a knowledge and understanding of airline and airport business practices and drivers.
