Security Screening Manager
Broome International Airport (BIA) is a regional airport that hosts the gateway to Australia’s spectacular Kimberley region in Northern Western Australia. To be successful in this role, you will have the following essential requirements:
• A strong understanding of aviation security regulations and extensive hands-on experience with screening technologies such as X-ray machines and metal detectors.
• Certificate II in Aviation Screening Operations or other relevant industry qualifications.
• A current C Class manual driver’s licence and the ability to obtain an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC).
POSITION TITLE:
Security Screening Manager
POSITION DESCRIPTION PURPOSE:
The Security Screening Manager is responsible for the effective management of passenger screening and Screening Point operations in accordance with all relevant Acts, Regulations, and Notices, and the Broome International Airport (BIA) Transport Security Program.
Position Details: Full time, ongoing with salaried conditions as per employment contract.
Position location: BIA Screening Point
RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports to: General Manager – Operations and Passenger Experience
Direct reports: Screening Supervisors.
Screening Officers.
External: Users of the airport Contractors
State and Federal Government Agencies Other relevant business and suppliers
Internal: BIA Senior Management team BIA Broome and Perth employees

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES and DUTIES:
The role will include the various tasks outlined below, dependent upon the various entities:
Key Responsibilities:
• All responsibilities and duties of Aviation Security Screening Position Description.
• Leadership and Management of the Screening Team, ensuring high performance, coordination, and adherence to security protocols.
• Oversight of Rostering and Timesheet Approval, ensuring the accurate scheduling of shifts and the timely authorisation of timesheets in line with operational needs.
General:
• Always represent BIA in a professional manner.
• Facilitate, attend and contribute at Screening team meetings.
• Work independently and as part of the team as required.
• All other lawful duties as directed by the General Manager – Operations and Passenger Experience or CEO.
Experience:
• Demonstrated proficiency in all responsibilities and duties outlined in the Aviation Security Screening Position Description, ensuring compliance with safety and security protocols.
• Proven leadership experience in a Supervisory or Management role, with a track record of effectively leading teams, managing performance, and fostering a high-performance work environment.
• Comprehensive understanding of aviation security standards, regulations, and procedures, including familiarity with the relevant Acts, Regulations, Notices, and Transport Security Programs.
Skills/Attributes:
• Strong decision-making skills, with the ability to resolve issues and conflicts efficiently.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with an ability to provide clear direction and feedback to team members.
• Experience in training and developing staff to maintain high-performance standards.

• Exceptional time management and operations skills to manage competing priorities to ensure security screening processes run efficiently.

• Provide mentoring and conflict management if and as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification/Licenses:
• Certificate 2 in Aviation Screening Operations or other relevant industry qualifications.
• Current C Class Driver Licence.
• Aviation Security Identification Card (BIA issue).
• Comply with BIA Drug and Alcohol Plan (DAMP) at all times.
Desirable:
• Previous experience in aviation or similar security environment management role.
Physical Abilities:
Administrative role with minimal physical activity required.
