Australian airports share insights and discuss future challenges at forum in Melbourne
More than 240 representatives from airports across Australia will attend a series of industry events in Melbourne this week.
The Australian Airports Association’s (AAA) Pavement Technology Workshop will begin proceedings this morning and will be followed by the AAA Airfield Pavement and Lighting Forum tomorrow.
The AAA will also be hosting its inaugural Airfield Ground Lighting committee meeting during the week.
International and Australian industry experts will be discussing case studies and future trends for the sector through a mixture of presentation and panel sessions.
AAA Chief Executive Officer Caroline Wilkie said the events would provide airport staff with an opportunity to share challenges and achievements and gain an insight into airports of the future.
“The AAA Airfield Pavement and Lighting Forum is the only event of this nature in the Asia-Pacific region and provides a fantastic opportunity for airports to discuss a wide range of technical issues, new technologies and airport challenges,” Ms Wilkie said.
“Events such as this are extremely valuable to the industry. They allow delegates to network and share how they’re delivering more for the travelling public and discuss the key challenges and issues that may arise in the future.
“The program has been created to ensure content is relevant to all, from remote aerodromes to our major airports.”
The Pavement Technology Workshop takes place at the Crown Conference Centre, Melbourne today, while the Airfield Pavement and Lighting Forum and the Airfield Ground Lighting committee meeting is to be held over the following two days.
