About the Women in Airports Forum

The inaugural Women in Airports forum was held on the Gold Coast in November 2019 and was a huge success with more than 130 attendees.

The Forum was developed to support the advancement of women across all aspects of the airport industry.

Women in Airports Forum 2021

Due to continued COVID case numbers on the east coast, lockdowns and border closures resulting from the Delta Strain of the virus, we have unfortunately had to cancel the in-person event which was due to take place in Sydney this November.

However, the AAA Women in Airports Forum will still take place as a virtual event on Monday 15 November.

This year’s Program

Have you ever felt negatively impacted in your career because you’re a woman?

Does your workplace have a gender equity policy?

What are gender quotas and how can they help?

Every woman has a story to tell when it comes to gender equity, but the real question is, how do we make a difference?

The Australian Airport Association’s Women in Airports Online Forum will bring together a strong, determined and inspiring group of women who work within the airport sector to help pave the way forward in what is a largely male dominated industry.

This year’s Forum will consist of a series of virtual workshops exploring pay disparity, how we can get more women into senior positions and how and where is progress being made in this area?

These important discussions will assist in the development of a gender equity policy which can be implemented at your airport or within your organisation.

The Forum will be facilitated by speaking coach Catherine McGrath who will deliver a workshop on how to write and structure your pitch to get senior staff and your bosses on board.

So what will you get out of it?

• Opportunity to assist in the development of an airport gender equity policy
• Hear from organisations which have done this well
• Tips on how to overcome gender challenges in the workplace
• How to deliver your message to make people listen
• Free gender equity resources pack
• Opportunity to network with like-minded members of the airport sector

We know times are difficult at the moment, with some states and territories still under strict lockdown measures.

If the opportunity allows, the AAA is encouraging participants to get together around a board table and take part in the Forum as a group.

This could be with other airport colleagues or with other airport members located in your state or territory.

Join us at 2pm on Monday 15 November for this insightful and productive discussion so we can all work together as one to make a difference.

Further details and a full program will be available soon.
