A rare and exciting opportunity has become available for a highly experienced Airport Manager to join the team at Central Highlands Regional Council.

Reporting to the General Manager of Commercial & Corporate Services, you will be responsible for the efficient and compliant operation of the Emerald Airport and regional Aerodrome Landing Areas in accordance  with regulatory and commercial requirements whilst leading a dedicated team.

You will also form part of the Whole of Management Team and promote Councils values to foster a positive workplace culture that encourages and rewards high performance and continuous improvement in service to customer and the community.

In this busy role, you will support the organisation by:

  • Overseeing the day to day operation of Emerald Airport and regional Aerodrome Landing Areas.
  • Ensuring Airport and Aerodrome Landing Areas meet Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) and Office of Transport Security (OTS) requirements along with federal legislation and council’s operation manuals.
  • Overseeing the delivery of Aerodrome projects to ensure they are being completed in line with budget, customer requirements and relevant regulations and policies.
  • Prepare and review planning documents to meet Airport future needs.
  • Stakeholder engagement whilst providing advice and direction with established council policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Producing high level reports for council and external agencies.
  • Leading, motivating, developing and supporting the Emerald Airport and ALA staff.

To be considered for this opportunity, you will need to possess:

  • Demonstrated experience managing a security controlled airport and providing technical support of airport operations.
  • Project management experience in delivery capital works projects.
  • Exceptional leadership skills to support and develop a cohesive and high performing team.
  • Competence in the use of Microsoft Office suite of programs.
  • Appropriate certifications to manage a Regular Passenger Transport Airport.
  • Queensland Open Drivers Licence.
