We put the customer first, take responsibility, act with integrity, embrace change and want to continuously improve.   The Role We're looking for an Aeronautical Information Software Support Manager to provide support services to the vendor of task-specific software for a corporate customer. The role will act in a technical capacity and manage the relationship with the customer and its technical staff. Flexible working arrangements are available for this role, nominally requiring three days in the customer’s Canberra office and two days working from home. The role will full-time on an 8-hour working day (flexible start and finish times between the hours of 8am – 6pm). Some meetings will be required that are outside of usual work hours, however, these will be organised in advance. Compulsory specialist training will be required as part of the initial induction process. This training, for a period of four weeks, will be conducted in Europe (expenses paid). The full-time role will suit someone who is looking for more independence and autonomy and wants to work with a team of highly regarded specialists.   About You The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate:
  • A deep understanding of information technology
  • Thorough knowledge of Australian aviation and aeronautical information systems
  • A basic understanding of the European aviation and aeronautical information systems
  • An interest in supporting civil and military air navigation services management providers
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work with others and be a participative and supportive team member
  • Ability to work with minimal direction, displaying initiative and motivation
  • High level time management skills – ensuring that tasks are completed on time and in detail
  • An understanding of the benefits of sharing project information and experiences in support of the company marketing plan.
The right person would need to be able to work in Australia and be located in or willing to relocate to Canberra.   Mandatory experience The ideal candidate will have experience in:
  • Master's degree in information technology, science, engineering, or computer science disciplines (e.g. a degree in electronic / telecommunications engineering or computer science, mathematical-computer science, navigation sciences, etc. or equivalent)
  • Five + years of experience working in the information technology, aviation, or air navigation sectors
  • Database installation, configuration and maintenance (Oracle 12 or higher, PostgresSQL)
  • Installation, configuration and troubleshooting on Windows, Windows Server, and Linux systems
  • Networking (in an information technology context)
  • Basic knowledge in the aeronautical information services / aeronautical information management sector with particular reference to aeronautical publications such as AIP and maps (types, purpose, updating cycles, etc.)
  • Leadership and customer relationship management
  • Tasks and activities planning and monitoring, including the production of reports.
  Desirable skills The skills listed below are desirable, but not a necessity:
  • Hardening
  • Container orchestration
  • Clustering, Docker Container, Kubernetes
  • Knowledge of highly reliable systems
  • Virtualisation systems: e.g.: Vmware, Citrix
  • Server monitoring: e.g. Nagios, Zenoss
  • IT implementation tools: e.g.: Ansible
  • Office tools, XML and HTML
  • Basic knowledge of the AIXM data interchange model
  • Basic concepts of geodesy and cartographic projection techniques
  • Basic concepts of flight procedure and airspace design/validation
  • Previous experiences in international activities in the field of software and hardware solutions
  • Management skills to collect, aggregate, catalogue, and document data, generating performance indicators and suggestions for actions relating to risk management
  • Relational and mediation skills.
