As an Airside Caretaker, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the highest standards for our airside buildings and surroundings. We are seeking a dedicated individual to ensure the cleanliness, safety, and presentation of airside areas while adhering to all airside safety requirements.

As an Airside Caretaker, your responsibilities will include:

Building Maintenance:

  • Ensure airside buildings are clean, free of rubbish and waste, and presentable.
  • Perform regular cleaning activities, including sweeping, dusting, and cobweb removal.
  • Use cleaning equipment when necessary to maintain optimal cleanliness.

Repairs and Maintenance:

  • Undertake general repairs and maintenance tasks associated with airside precincts, buildings, equipment, and other assets.

Airside Operations Support:

  • Follow directions from Airside Grounds and Operations and Safety Team Leaders.
  • Undertake Wildlife Strike Operations (WSO) duties as directed.
  • Coordinate site access and undertake site escorts.
  • Provide support for airside works and general airside activities.

Security and Reporting:

  • Assist in maintaining the security of the airside precinct, buildings, and assets.
  • Report faults, failures, and workplace health and safety issues promptly.

Flexibility and Teamwork:

  • Provide general assistance with airside operations as needed.
  • Be open to ad hoc duties as reasonably directed by your manager or the management team, including the possibility of working at alternate sites and precincts within the business.

We have strong requirements for this role and all applicants must have (or have the ability to obtain within 6 months of commencement):

  • Valid Driver’s Licence (C Class)
  • Ability to obtain Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC)
  • Ability to obtain an Airside Driver’s License
  • Ability to obtain an Industrial White Card, Asbestos Awareness and Silica Exposure Prevention Certificates.
  • Undertake pre-employment medical testing and obtain negative result for Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD); and maintain negative results throughout employment, as per CASR 1998 – Part 99 and Canberra Airport’s Drug and Alcohol Management Plan (DAMP)
