What you’ll contribute to:

An exciting opportunity has recently become available for an enthusiastic and innovative Cloud Engineer to join the QAL Technology team. Reporting directly to the Technology Operations Manager, this role is responsible for handling Level 1 system support activities for QAL Technology. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing excellent customer service and have a “can do” attitude in resolving all types of technical issues and in providing support to end users on how to use technology. As an entry-level role, it is important for the role to absorb as much learning and development in all facets of technology to aid in the career path choice for the individual.

I joined QAL two and half years ago in a Cyber Graduate role. This was an amazing opportunity to kickstart my career in technology because QAL offered a first-level role which further provided me opportunities to learn, grow and contribute to the business as a Cyber Security Analyst. The technical knowledge and skills I can offer can assist our organisation to achieve and maintain good cyber hygiene practices.

How will you make an impact?

We are looking for a responsible and committed individual with demonstrated service desk and customer-facing experience. You will pride yourself on delivering excellent technology solutions and an understanding of a variety of facets of technology.

The key accountabilities for the Systems Administrator role include, but not limited to:

  • The administration and operation of one or more customer service or service desk functions. Acting as a point of contact to support service users and customers reporting issues, requesting information, access, or other services
  • The resolution of problems throughout the information system lifecycle, (classification, prioristisation and initiation of action, documentation of root causes and implementation of remedies to prevent future incidents)
  • Following agreed procedures, identifies, registers, and categorises incidents. Gathers information to enable incident resolution and promptly allocates incidents as appropriate
  • The administration of the Service register for all cloud technology assets and services
  • Monitor and log services provided, compared to that required by service level agreements
  • Assist in the preparation of SLA documentation and reporting as well as managing suppliers to deliver to their agreed SLAs

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 3 years experience as a Cloud Engineer or similar IT discipline, and a minimum of 5 years working experience preferably in technology support or a cloud computing-related role. 

You will have proven ability in the cloud infrastructure with AWS and Azure, and a demonstrated ability to develop new cloud-based solutions using CICD methodologies, with excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills. You must be able to interact positively and build relationships with a broad range of stakeholders to achieve team objectives.
