What you’ll contribute to

An exciting opportunity has recently become available for an experienced part time Terminal Duty Manager to join the team at Townsville Airport. This is Part time role will see you working between 20-32 hours a week on a rotating roster with hours ranging from 0430am to 11pm (or until last flight has cleared) 365 days a year.

Reporting to the Terminal Manager, the successful applicant will ensure professional, efficient, and effective operation of the Townsville Airport Pty Ltd terminal facility is achieved by regular pro-active interaction with stakeholders, key clients, passengers, and other terminal users.

I enjoy the work/life balance from a great rotating roster and shift times. The company is always very flexible when it comes to taking annual leave and when requiring/requesting days off. There is also flexibility to swap shifts with other team members if needed.

 I have had many development opportunities while at GCA, such as assisting in the implementation of the Hidden Disability Program & improving the compliments and complaints process plus working with peers to improve the customer experience at the airport.  I have also been involved in creating a web platform for terminal operations for audits & inspections, working with projects on the STE as well as cross training / expiring into other areas of the business such as the baggage control room and Aerodrome Reporting Officer role.

QAL provides me with a supportive and safe workplace surrounded by people who want to achieve the same goal which is to make this airport the best it can be and provide a great experience to our customers.”

How will you make an impact?

We are looking for an energetic and motivated person with experience working within an airport environment. You will pride yourself on your work ethic and enjoy making a valuable team contribution.

The Duty Manager’s tasks, include, but aren’t limited to: –

  • Provide efficient, friendly, and professional service to all terminal guests.
  • Positive stakeholder relations including monitoring of flight arrivals to ensure incoming passengers have a recognisable point of contact for assistance.
  • Attend to major operational problems and needs promptly including customer complaints, enquiries, and requests. Practice positive problem solving in all aspects of customer service.
  • Provide input as required into the key terminal projects.
  • Maintaining Flight Information Display System (FIDS) ensuring last minute changes are identified.
  • Provide direction in emergency events and medical first aid.

To be successful in this role, you will have experience working in a busy airport environment. A tertiary qualification in Tourism, Hospitality or Airport Operations would be seen as an advantage. You will have exceptional customer service skills with the ability to communicate with a different range of personalities. Fluency in a second language would also be seen as an advantage.

You will also have your Current First Aid Certificate (or be willing to obtain this).
